Go, Take a Free Ride: Shuttle Service from Cooleemee to Mocksville – Davie County Enterprise Record

A shuttle service will soon be available for residents of Cooleemee to travel to Mocksville for errands and medical appointments.

It will be a free service.

A 14 passenger minibus owned and operated by The Bridge @197 Main of Cooleemee, will transport residents to Mocksville each Monday, Wednesday and Friday to connect to the YVEDDI Mocksville Circulator. This will allow each passenger to use the circulator to visit one of the stops on their route. The minibus will also provide transport on Tuesdays and Thursdays for scheduled medical appointments.

Through the leadership and development of the facilities team at The Bridge @ 197 Main, this missionary outpost has become a place of Christian outreach efforts with its mission statement of “Creating Disciples of Jesus in the Community by being a place of belonging and a place for questioning.”

The Last Mile is just one facet of the services offered through several community service grants in hopes of making a difference in the Cooleemee community.

Every Thursday at 5:30 p.m., food donations are forwarded to 197 Main St., Cooleemee. Food deliveries are also made to people in the community who cannot get there.

On Sundays, a service is provided by God’s Plan Ministries with Pastor Jamie Grant, who also gives Bible teaching every Tuesday evening at the Davie Family YMCA in Mocksville.

This latest venture to provide transportation to Mocksville and medical appointments will begin Monday, March 7. The minibus will depart for Mocksville from The Bridge @ 197 Main at 9am for Walmart in Mocksville. Pickups for the return to the bridge will be at 2 p.m. from Walmart.

Transportation to medical appointments for home pickups on Tuesday and Thursday will need to be scheduled. There is a limit of 14 people for shopping and connection with the YVEDDI Mocksville circulator and a maximum of two customers for medical appointments.

Anyone able and willing to donate 2-3 hours one day a week to help with this service is asked to call David Carroll at 336-529-2145. To schedule a drive to a medical appointment, also contact Carroll, Transportation Manager.
