Award-winning Isle of Wight chef Robert Thompson has unveiled his next challenge. He is the new honorary chef of a luxury boutique hotel in Cowes.
Posting on social media, the Michelin star winner said he “looks forward to welcoming guests” to the exclusive, Grade II listed North House on Sun Hill.
He was based at his downtown Newport restaurant, Thompson’s, which he described as an “incredible run”, announcing he’s “moved on to the next challenge”.
In December, as reported by the county press, the Town Lane restaurant revealed plans to open more than five dates, in January and February 2022. It sold out within two hours.
Robert said at the time that he, along with the rest of the hospitality industry, had been affected by the impact of Covid-19.
On social media on Sunday, Robert Thompson said: “Keep watching for online restaurant and hotel reservations and some menu teasers!
“The last few years have been brutal for so many people.
“I am very grateful to have such a brilliant team, great guests, friends and family who have supported me.”
“It’s on to the next chapter. I couldn’t be more excited to start North House.”
He also revealed that his home cooking delivery service, You Be Chef, which he launched during the Covid-19 lockdown, will continue.
Speaking in December, Robert said: “Home boxes have basically kept my business alive. I don’t think the norm exists anymore.
“You Be Chef isn’t for everyone, but we’ve had customers from everywhere ordering our food, from Scotland to Cornwall to London.”
It offers refined cuisine at home, via a system of packed lunches, delivered throughout the country.
